Therapy

So, lately I've have a bad habit. I get bored of hunting, so I look through my storage and my alt chars and see what junks I have that I can blow. Last time, I blew a bunch of stuff in sacrafice for my ori daggers, and then the ori daggers both blew. That made me mad, so I took it out on my +8 DK Sword and luck gave me a +9. I wasn't angry after that.

Today, I decided to blow a bunch of shamshir, trying for a +10, but I also had some Two Handed Sword of Brave Lizardman Warrior and two Claw of Baranka. I really wanted a +9 out of at least one of those two items. Well, everything blew and I didn't get a single +9, which really frustrated me. So I did this...w00t indeed.

Hell yes

Lately I've just been messing around, having given up much hope of improving 0mega. I leveled a prince to 50 just for fun, and tried to play my elf a bit but just find him a bit boring. Finally, he gave me a reason to like him...

+9 Power Gloves have been a huge goal of mine and I spent many hours trying just to gather PGs from 42f.

Today, Vici0sa (ty!) signed on and sold me 9 +0 PGs. I got impatient at the end of the night, blew about 5 bcomrs, then hit the PGs. The first blew, second went +7, the next 6 blew and the last one went +6. I blew the +6 because of course you have to. It blew up, so I hit the +7 and it went +8.

As you may be able to tell from my last post of pics, I blew a lot of stuff very recently, including +8 PG (along with +8iboot x 2, +8bcomr, +8elven shield and some other things). Since I basically went so badly with +8 items while drunk a few days before, I decided to hit the +8PG because I was just getting impatient. Finally, +9PG, my new favorite item.

That brings me to the cusp of my goal, which is to use my basic hunting gear (STR and Fire Resist Items) and still get -100 ac. Right now I can get -99AC with 35 STR, 86% MR, 100% Fire Resist. If I hit level 79, I will get a bonus ac and reach the goal of -100. Otherwise, I need +10red knight hood or shield, +8beleth boots, or +8valakas armor....not likely!

Mission Accomplished

I have always had a few specific goals in mind for my lineage playing days, and this was one of them:

Finally did it. Now, onto whatever is next. I think +9 Power Gloves is highest on my list of goals remaining.

Another Ronde Edo dropped recently, not to me, but to someone who can actually put it to good use. It's nice to see people continue to get stronger, even when they reach the apex of the game.

Hey everyone,

I've got some pictures to post up when I'm not at work. Just some shots of the various things that have been going on inside the WK lineage server for the last few weeks, plus a bit of my own progress. I'll update once I get out of the office.

Moving on...there is currently a karma event (!) taking place on the server. It began today and will continue through the 26th of July. This is the first karma event since I have been on the server, and I've been saving up all my fragments of soul stone just for this. All karma rewards (from turning in stones and from killing karma mops) are triple!

This may give a few dedicated hunters a chance to hit the elusive level 8 earring, although, in my opinion, the level 6,7,8 earring bonuses are not strong enough to represent just how difficult it is to obtain that much karma. For example, even with triple karma, it takes 4,375 fragments of soul stone to get from no karma, to level 8 karma. As a level 75+ deleveled knight, I've basically hunted over 120 levels, and haven't collected that many stones. It is a very difficult accomplishment, and in my humble opinion, the bonuses should get a little better as the difficultly level goes up.

In any event, the karma earrings from TOS are an absolute necessity for any player, and everyone should be aiming for at least level 5 earrings! Below is a breakdown of the karma earring bonuses. I recommend going for earring karma in TOS and upper SOE before trying to hunt Desire Cavern for the karma necklaces. The necklace bonuses aren't quite as good, and they prevent you from wearing a stat necklace like STR ammy or Black Wiz Ammy.

Level 1: Dancing Earrings, -1 AC
Level 2: Twin Earrings, -2 AC
Level 3: Festival Earrings, -3 AC
Level 4: Zenith Earrings, -3 AC, +25 HP, +10 MP
Level 5: Reckless Earrings, -3 AC, +50 HP, +25 MP
Level 6: Fantasy Horse Earrings, -3 AC, +50 HP, +25 MP, +2% Weight Reduction
Level 7: Clan Earrings, -3 AC, +50 HP, +25 MP, +5% Weight Reduction
Level 8: Slave Earrings, -3 AC, +50 HP, +25 MP, +10% Weight Reduction

Hey everyone

Hope you're all enjoying the 2x experience and drop event. Everyone seems to be doing well and having a good time. Population has been rather robust with lots of new players starting to take root, gear up and make good progress.

Not too much to report from my end, except that I used the event to finally motivate myself to level. I hadn't done any leveling for several months, and had actually seen my xp move backwards as I died a few times doing dumb things as per usual. I managed to gain about 30% this weekend, putting me at around 80% toward the next level. That's really the home stretch mentally for me, and I'll probably see it out until I hit the next useless stat point. After that, probably another month of screwing around with no progress.

I am working on making a +9 power glove, so if anyone wants to sell their ogre bloods to me, I'll buy em all. I figure I need about 500 (o.o) of them in order to have a real shot at +9. So far I've saved up about 19.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to briefly let everyone know that a few changes were made to the server, and assure you all that many more are in the works!

During the most recent server maintenance the following updates were applied:
  • Spell books, spell crystals, and dark spell crystals are now stackable
  • Ivory Tower Ring, Ancient Book of Magic and Tarak's Devil Book are now tradeable
  • 1F Meeting Area, 2F Magic Training, Abyss Lake, Ant Cave 3F, Crystal Cave 3F, Giant's Grave, and Losus IslandTeleport Scrolls are now available from Melissa in Aden
  • The price of Pan's Mane at the NPC shop in SKT has been lowered
  • Mithril arrows are now available for purchase at the Giran scroll shop
  • Mermaid scale drop rate increased
  • Loot range distance doubled
  • Steel Staff of Mana available for purchase at Oren NPC shop; stats changed
  • Stats changed for Edoryu of Ronde
A few comments from me: The stackable spellbooks and crystals is a high quality change that will enhance gameplay a lot. Inventories won't fill up so fast, and selling them to the shop will be much quicker and easier. Also, for ranged chars, looting will be easier so you dont have to pick drops up off the floor, and have a better chance to take drops from bosses if you can get close enough and stay alive :)

Dragon Scale Event Over

Well, the dragon scale event has ended, and it seems that some people were able to make some very nice things. A lot of people who wanted dragon scale armors of sayha bows were able to collect enough scales to make several. One player even managed to make +7blue dragon armor and +7white dragon armor.

Anyway, I tried to make a +7red dragon armor for my elf, but five +5 red dragon armors blew up and that was all I had enough scales for. Fortunately, my elf was able to make this:

Next Event: Level 55 poly for all! Starting June 6, ending June 13, get your leveling in while you can!

Stat Choices

Having played primarily elves and knights in my lineage career, I can't speak too well to the considerations of other classes, but I'd like to offer my thoughts on at least one aspect of the decision where to allocate your stats.

Under the current system (the stat-reroll candles have not yet been implemented into our server) there are two things that you can't fix later in the game, if you don't consider them at the early stages. They are HP and MP. If you're a knight, you can add to STR whenever you want, and the bonuses will apply regardless of when you added. The same is true for DEX, regardless of what level you are when you add it, the ER and AC bonuses will apply corresponding to that level.

With HP and MP, it is different, because the important HP/MP bonuses are based on level ups, and they apply at the time you level up. Adding to CON in the end game provides far less of an advantage than adding to CON in the early stages. If you add one point to CON at level 51, and later reach 71, that's 20 level ups where you get the benefit of that added CON point. if you wait until level 71 to add the stat, you get zero level ups to benefit from. WIS works the same way for MP.

My suggestion, under the current system, add to CON or WIS early and often, maximize your HP or MP for the late stages, because you can't make up for it later on.

Waiting to add things like DEX STR INT will make it more difficult to level up as quickly as if you max them out early. On the other hand, maxing them out early makes it much easier to level up quickly, and maximize the number of levels you can achieve. That strategy may be worth considering with the eventual stat reroll candles. The more level ups you have made, the more stat points you will have to reallocate with the reroll.

In a boosted XP server, I think it's worth while to level slightly less quickly, for the advantages that come in the end game with ultra high HP or MP.

The quest for -127 AC

Sup folks,

After stagnating for quite a while on my AC, I randomly fell into some luck and some opportunities to improve it. After dying a few too many times and getting frustrated, I took a whole load of BCOMRs I'd been holding onto and went at them with the nzel/bzel/czel hotkey combo. No sure how many I blew, maybe 25 to 30 of them, but in the end I had two +8s. Obviously, that is no place to stop, considering the +8 already draped over my shoulders. This time though, I used Gian scrolls from the Ancient Giant Grave. The first one popped, not surprisingly, but much to my delight, the last standing BCOMR in my inventory glows with the shine that only a +9 can.

The next AC point came from a random opportunity. A fellow pledge mate COLLECTION who has probably the strongest active DE on the server had gotten bored of his Kaiser Edo and wanted to enchant it up. When that blew, like any logical player, he started blowing his everything else. Miraculously, he notched his T-Shirt up to +9. After negotiating a price for it, I ended up buying it from him for my leftover +8bcomr (the one I was wearing when I made a +9), the +8T-shirt off my back, and 100million adena.

The last AC point involved some fairly uber items, so I'll put that up in a few days with screenshots. Also, here's a shot of one of our mages doing an imitation of the AG we just ended.

Dragon Scale Event!

At the moment, the WK server is enjoying a month-long event through the end of May. Dragon scales of all varieties are dropping from monsters in various locations around Aden. In Fire Valley, Death Valley, Oren Waste Land, and the Twilight Mountains mops can drop you scales of any color.

Ordinarily, scales are fairly scarce. This event will hopefully allow users to make some of those elusive items like Dragon Scale Mail, Magical Dragon Armor, Sayha's Bow, Eva's Shield, and elemental cloaks. If anyone is lucky, they can hopefully enchant something up and make something truly unique.

I myself and working on Magic Dragon Armors for my knight, hoping to eventually break out the Nzels and Bzels and go for broke. (Ed: About 4 weeks ago, I may or may not have imbibed a few too many alcoholic beverages, and may or may not have blown the Magic Dragon Armors I had at the time QQ)

Introduction

Welcome everyone to the Westknights Lineage 1 blog!

My name is David, I play multiple characters on the WK Lin 1 server, mainly 0megaknight and Gunz, and have been active since around Thanksgiving 2009. I hope to use this space to chronicle some of the more interesting happenings on the server, provide helpful information regarding some of the server's unique qualities and events, and offer up screenshots that people may enjoy.

Anyone who has played any MMORPG knows that it is difficult to keep up with what everyone else around you is up to. For those who are currently active on WK Lin 1 server, those who used to be, and those who may be interested in getting started, hopefully this place will enable you to follow along and stay involved even when you can't actually log in.

***

The Westknights Lineage 1 server is a very stable medium rate server with a few customizations and a close nit community. Many of the players and members of the current private server community were involved with Westknights back on Ken Server years ago, or even in other games. I personally played an elf on Ken server named YoungGunz, and was in the WK bloodpledge up until many of the members migrated to Lineage 2. I was loyal to Lineage 1 (read: too lazy to learn a new game) and played it until I quit about 7 years ago. I jumped at the chance to join the WK Lineage server, and recommend that anyone who used to play and love Lineage to hop in and check it out.
